  • West Indies are unbeaten against Zimbabwe in men’s Test matches, having played 10 games against the Chevrons in the format, winning seven (D3); in fact, Zimbabwe are the only team against whom the Men in Maroon have played two or more games in the format are yet to lose.
  • West Indies have won three of their four men’s Test games played at the Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo (D1), with the sole draw result coming in their most recent match at the venue on 29 October 2017.
  • West Indies have won each of their last five multi-game bilateral men’s Test series against Zimbabwe, only against England have the Men in Maroon won more consecutive series on the bounce (June 1976 – April 1990).
  • Zimbabwe are on the lookout of their first men’s multi-game bilateral series win since registering a win against Bangladesh in March 2004; since then, the Chevrons have lost 12 of the 16 such series they participated in (D4).
  • West Indies have a catch success rate of 81% since the beginning of 2022 in men’s Test cricket, the best of all teams; they have caught 69 of the 85 chances presented to them during this period.
  • 53% of the runs that Zimbabwe have scored in men’s Test cricket since the beginning of 2021 have come from boundaries, only India (54%) have a better such rate during this period.
  • Only Sri Lanka (14%) and New Zealand (15%) among bowling teams have a lower rate of overturning on-field decisions in men’s Tests since 2021 among all sides participating in World Test Championship than West Indies (18%).
  • Gary Ballance (Zimbabwe) is set to make his debut for Zimbabwe in Tests after having played 23 games for England in the format earlier, thus becoming the 16th player to have represented two teams in the multiday format’s history; he is also set to become just the second Chevrons player after John Traicos (also played for South Africa) to feature for two teams in the format.
  • Kemar Roach (253 wickets) is seven scalps away from surpassing Joel Garner (259 wickets) to become the fifth-highest wicket-taker for West Indies in the men’s Test format; he has scalped seven or more wickets in seven Tests he has featured in, doing so most recently against Bangladesh on 16 June 2022.
  • This will mark just the second time that Craig Ervine will be leading Zimbabwe in a men’s Test game, having also done so against Bangladesh on 22 February 2020 where the Chevrons lost the game by an innings and 106 runs.
