Sunrisers flying high - Meanwhile, in the Men's game between Sunrisers Leeds and Southern Brave at Headingley, the home side has piled on 187/5 after being put in. Good surface to bat - Welsh Fire Women's GEORGIA VOLL is up for a chat with the on-air commentators. On the back-to-back starts with the bat, Voll admits there's plenty to be pleased about, even if her own dismissal with roughly 40 balls still in the tank stings a little. She credits Sophie Devine and her partner at the other end for setting up a strong total on the board. Reflecting on the defeat to Southern Brave while chasing a modest total, Voll admits that the performance itself had plenty to like, even if the result didn't go their way. Not at their best - It seemed as if MI London Women were not able to hit their straps at all. They started waywardly with the ball and no one could really keep a lid on the proceedings. And towards the end, the dam just broke open. It is really bizarre to see all the bowlers misfiring at once.

Clinical batting display - Leave aside Freya Kemp, who was run out for 1, and the scorecard paints a wonderful picture for Welsh. The openers put on a good stand and then, Sophie Devine and Georgia Wareham did the finishing honours. Voll's impetus was the key as she ensured that the new ball was taken care of, getting off to a blistering start. And later, around the 15th set, the carnage began. It was bowled by Hayley Matthews which went for 18 and the hits just kept on coming.

Death knell - 80/1 in the last 30 balls. The home side has made a massive statement. It never looked as if the Fire were in trouble but this last dig of acceleration has given this total a monumental look.

Welsh move to fourth - That is the latest update in the points table of the Hundred Women. They next take on the Trent Rockets on 29th July, while MI London Women, currently in 6th place after back-to-back defeats, meet Southern Brave on the 27th. That ends the action from the Women's games on Saturday but we are not done yet. The Men get ready to clash now, between the Welsh and MI, with the news coming in that MI London have won the toss there as well and elected to field in that game too! PLAYER OF THE MATCH - GEORGIA WAREHAM - The Aussie gets the award for a stellar allround show of an unbeaten 43 (20) with the bat and figures of 2/23 with the ball. On being asked about the win, Wareham calls it an awesome team. Explains that the way Welsh started with the bat was great and then followed it with the ball. Hopes to take some momentum into the coming matches. On the message in the team meetings after their previous loss, Georgia says that the players decided to keep it simple. Stresses that they were aiming to use this ground as a fortress and adapt to the conditions. On the score of 177, GW says that it was a really nice wicket, with a fast outfield. Adds that batting with Sophie Devine was fun and the wind was a big factor. On the instructions to the bowlers at half time, Georgia Wareham says that it was about being aware of your lengths and checking the wind. Further says that Devine controlled the proceedings nicely and everyone who bowled did a really good job. On the success of spin at this venue, Wareham says that they just kept the stumps in play as much as possible. Ends by saying that is going to be their blueprint for the rest of the tournament.

Batting masterclass - Earlier, after being put in, Welsh Fire Women decided to take on the bull by the horns, making good use of a really nice pitch. Georgia Voll set the tone upfront while Sophie Devine and Georgia Wareham took the game away from the Team In Blue with a devastating stand of 79 in just 35 balls. London were very inconsistent with the ball with no bowler able to find control for long.

A game to forget - That's the best way to describe this for MI London Women. After being average with the ball, they were simply looking lost with the bat, finding no support whatsoever from anyone. Only Chinelle Henry managed to get past 25 but that was more of resurrecting the damage and ensuring that the defeat margin was not too huge. There was a brief bit of resistance shown during the 7th wicket stand of 46 between Henry and Alice Davidson-Richards but that just delayed the inevitable.

No room to breathe - That's how well the home side bowled. Having a massive cushion of 177 runs behind them, the bowlers did not feel any kind of pressure on them. They kept taking wickets at regular intervals and had MI London Women 6 down before the halfway mark, killing the contest way early. Everyone bowled well but in terms of the wickets, Grace Potts was the pick, doing the early damage, finishing off her 4 sets in the first 6, taking 3/24.

First win of 2026 - Practically, Welsh Fire Women should have had 4 points by now, but for the disappointment in Southampton. However, they have overcome that disappointment by producing a near-perfect all-round display, registering their BIGGEST WIN OF THE HUNDRED WOMEN! They also break their rut of 3 successive losses and register their FIRST WIN AT HOME SINCE 2024 - that's after 5 straight losses!
