Player Biography

Hasan Mahmud is a premier right-arm fast bowler from Lakshmipur, Bangladesh, who led a new era for the country of producing pacers who can touch speeds around 150 clicks. He began his professional cricket journey with Chittagong Division, making his first-class debut in 2017. He showcased his potential early on, participating in the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup, where he was Bangladesh's second-highest wicket-taker. In the domestic circuit, he played for Khelaghar Samaj Kallyan Samity in the Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League, making his List A debut in 2018.

Hasan's performances in domestic T20 competitions have been noteworthy. In the 2019–20 Bangladesh Premier League (BPL), he played for Dhaka Platoon, and later for Gemcon Khulna and Rangpur Riders. His standout performance came during the Bangabandhu T20 Cup in 2020, where he took 11 wickets for Gemcon Khulna, contributing significantly to their championship win. Across two BPL seasons, he accumulated 30 wickets in 28 matches, highlighting his consistency and effectiveness in the shorter format.

Hasan made his T20 International debut for Bangladesh against Zimbabwe in 2020. He earned his ODI cap in 2021 against the West Indies. A significant milestone in his ODI career was his maiden five-wicket haul, taking 5/32 against Ireland in 2023. In Test cricket, Hasan debuted against Sri Lanka in 2024. He quickly made an impact, securing his first Test five-wicket haul (5/43) against Pakistan in August 2024, playing a pivotal role in Bangladesh's 2-0 series sweep. Continuing his impressive form, he became the first Bangladeshi bowler to take a five-wicket haul in a Test match in India, achieving figures of 5/83 in Chennai in September 2024. Hasan's rapid rise in international cricket, marked by significant performances in all formats, underscores his potential to be a mainstay in Bangladesh's bowling attack for years to come.
