O'Brien rolls the fingers across it, and Rashid Khan drags the ball down the throat of deep mid wicket for a simple catch.
Afghanistan did well to get that total in the end. Rashid Khan and Shafiqullah providing some lusty blows to up the score to 238. Tim Murtagh the pick of the bowlers with his incredible accuracy, but Boyd Rankin also nipped in with four wickets. Ireland required 239 to win, and will be chasing under the lights in around 40 minutes. It's anyone's game at the halfway mark.

Turned out to be a one affair. 238 was far too many for Ireland to consider chasing down. It may have been a closer game had Rashid Khan and Shafiqullah not added those quick runs at the end of the Afghanistan innings though. Mujeeb Zadran on debut was spectacular. His unorthodox off spin bamboozled the Irish batsmen, and they did not have an answer. This result means that the hosts go 1-0 up in the three match series. Can Ireland bounce back on Thursday?
